Natural Golf, Incorporated, is in the business of teaching golf. It was started in 1986 by a retired physicist named Jack Kuykendall. Jack was a frustrated golfer who spent a year going to different golf schools, always hoping to find the Holy Grail of golf. He found no Holy Grail and, in fact, his handicap actually increased significantly! Jack began experimenting on his own thinking of the golf swing in terms of physics. He applied concepts from physics to develop a less complex way to hold the club and strike the ball. He began holding the club in the palm of his hands, not in the fingers. He also widened his stance for more body stability. He extended his arms at address into a single angle. With his arms and the club in a straight line from the sole of the club to his shoulder area, squaring the clubface and body up at impact was very easy.
What Jack wound up doing was putting himself at the address position, where he'd be at impact. His golf game got better fast. Then some interesting events occurred: Paul Azinger won the 1992 PGA Tour Championship using the Natural Golf Thing putter. Larry Olsen joined Natural Golf in 1994 as a primary investor and the C.O.O. In 1995 Golf Digest Magazine ran an extensive feature story on Moe Norman, the Canadian golfing legend and the best ball striker of all time. Golf equipment planning, development and production began, immediately producing award winning equipment.
In 1997 Tom Herskovits bought controlling interest in the company. The following year the most widely sold golf instructional package ever, A Lifetime of Better Golf, made its debut. Natural Golf schools with its Certified Instructors grew to its present size. The company went from 5,000 golfers to the 300,000 golfers who today use Natural Golf. Natural Golf is one of the top 25 golf schools in America today. In June 2004 the Natural Golf Makeover/Challenge reality television show debuted on The Golf Channel.
